Synthesis of Graphite-Encapsulated Ni Micro- and Nanoparticles Using Liquid-Phase Arc Discharge

In this work, the synthesis of nickel particles encapsulated in a few-layer graphene shell was carried out using method electric arc discharge liquid phase, various media: deionized water, alcohol, and toluene. Nickel graphite were used as electrodes. The study to analyze how liquids, acting cooling medium source carbon, affect formation protective around metal particles. Raman studies, analysis X-ray diffraction data, scanning electron microscopy confirmed spherical all types media. It found that use toluene increased number with allowed obtaining micro- nanoparticles covered monolayer graphene. absence oxygen composition toluene, contrast alcohol especially prevents oxidation during synthesis. This fact, along initial basic hexagonal carbon structure makes it good for protecting result phase.
